Voorhees University's Alexander, Burris take home Week 7 HBCUAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Awards
NEW ORLEANS - April 22, 2025 - Voorhees University men's track and field athlete Damarion Alexander takes home Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Jaylen Burris earns Field Athlete of the Week. The men were recognized for their performance between April 14-20, the conference announced Tuesday.
Alexander won the 200-meter dash at the Sharonda Coleman Singleton Classic on Saturday. He topped a field of 25 athletes, mostly from National Collegiate Athletic Association schools. His time was 0.36 seconds from the 'B' qualifying standard. He already qualified for the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Burris won the triple jump with a distance of 14.74 meters which surpassed the 'B' qualifying standard. He beat 13 athletes. Burris' season best of 15.06 meters ranks fourth in the nation.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
